Manka-Ka Convicted on Sex Offense Charges

Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi, author of the “Seikimatsu Leader den Takeshi!” manga serial formerly published in best selling manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump, was convicted on October 15th on charges of paying 80,000 yen to a second year high school girl in return for sex in November 2001. Mitsutoshi was convicted for violating Japan’s anti-child prostitution and pornography law after admitting that he had engaged in sex with several under aged females in the past. His successful 24 volume Seikimatsu Leader den Takeshi! manga story was concluded last August when his pending criminal charges came to light. Sentencing is scheduled for October 29th. Prosecutors are reportedly seeking a 2 year prison term.
