Manga Continues Market Dominance

Manga continues to dominate bookstore sales in the graphic novel category. According to the most recent survey of actual sell-through for the week ending June 6, Fantagraphics The Complete Peanuts volume 1, which came in at number 4, was the only non-manga volume in the top 25, and there were only five non-manga releases in the top 50. Rurouni Kenshin volume 5 from Viz took the top spot, followed by Tokyopop’s Fruits Basket Volume 3, and Viz’s Alice 19th volume 4. Del Rey’s mighty duo of Tsubasa and Negima dipped slightly, but still remain in the top 10. Tokyopop’s D.N.Angel is performing especially well with two volumes (1 & 2) in the top 10, while Naruto, Bleach and Shaman King are doing well for Viz.
