Mamoru Oshii’s Next Anime Announced

While Mamoru Oshii was not be involved in the production of the third Patlabor movie, his involvement with Patlabor itself has not diminished. The Japanese Manga Zoo anime news site has revealed that Mamoru Oshii has already completed work on three short “Mini Pat” anime movies. The full digital SD Patlabor shorts are animated to look like hand-painted cel art puppets. One 13 minute long episode and two 12 minute long episodes are now complete. One of them will premier theatrically as a bonus feature on the wide release premier of the WXIII Patlabor movie next spring.
