Macoto Tezka to Complete Legend of the Forest

Respected anime and live action film director Macoto Tezka, the son of legendary manga and anime artist Osamu Tezuka, has announced plans to complete the 1987 experimental anime film Legend of the Forest (Mori no Densetsu), which was only half finished when original director Osamu Tezuka passed away in 1989. The film was intended to consist of four movements set to the music of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Only the first and last segments of the film were completed before Tezuka’s death. The existing animation has been released theatrically in Japan, and has been released on international home video. The Right Stuf released Legend of the Forest on American VHS.

Macoto Tezka has previously directed a variety of Black Jack anime productions based on his late father’s work. And Tezka currently manages the Tezuka Production animation studio.
