Latest News on Domestic Ghibli Film Releases

Anime on DVD has published a number of announcements that Studio Ghibli representative Steve Alpert made at last Friday’s screening of Porco Rosso at the New York International Children’s Film Festival.

• Howl’s Moving Castle will be released in Japan in July and eventually in America.
• There are plans for Princess Mononoke to be re-released theatrically in America, this time with a subtitled print.
• “Every” Studio Ghibli film will be officially released in America by the end of 2005. The next film to see official American release will be Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind.
• Disney will make a formal announcement about the American release of Porco Rosso by the end of the month.
• A new Disney produced English language version of My Neighbor Totoro is already in production.
