Kunio Kato Offered AMPAS Membership

The US based Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) has invited 134 artists and film industry executives to join its ranks. A maximum of 166 membership invitations are given each year. Last year only 105 people were invited. This year, Oscar winning Japanese independent animator Kunio Kato (House of Small Cubes) has received an invitation. Votes from AMPAS members determine the annual winners of the Academy Awards.
