This week’s new issue of Newtype Magazine will formally announce that Toei Animation will produce an anime TV series adaptation of Hideo Okuda’s award winning 2004 novel Kuchu Buranko (Trapeze). The book is a collection of stories about psychiatrist Ichiro Irabu and the various patients he treats.

Anime director Kenji Nakamura and character designer/animation director Takashi Hashimoto, who worked together on the “Bakeneko” story arc of the Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales television series and its spin-off, Mononoke, will reunite in the same roles for the Kuchu Buranko anime. Like their previous Ayakashi and Mononoke series, Kuchu Buranko will air in the Fuji TV network’s late night “Noitamina” slot beginning this October, following Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and preceding Nodame Cantabile Finale.
