Korean Anime Screenings Delayed

According to Higher’s Korean Animation Theater (Kankoku Anime Gekijo) the Korean theatrical release of Nausicaa, originally scheduled for December 16th, was postponed until the 30th, and Jin-Roh, originally scheduled for the 2nd, was postponed until the 9th. The release of the Pokemon movie has not changed from the 23rd.

In order to protect the domestic film industry, Korean law restricts the amount of foreign films that can be screened in Korean theatres during any given period but Kankoku Anime Gekijo suggests the delay is due to a lack of faith on the part of Korean film distributors. These fears are due to the poor theatrical performance of Jubei Ninpocho (Ninja Scroll), which failed to draw significant audiences.
