Kenshin DVD Updates

Anime on DVD received information about Media Blaster’s release of Rurouni Kenshin on DVD from Meredith Mulroney, chief designer for Media Blasters. While nothing was said about any kind of return or exchange for those experiencing problems with the Japanese audio track on the first DVD, those experiencing problems should be able to fix the problem by adjusting the audio setup on the disc. (For more specific information, visit the Anime on DVD forum.) The cause of the audio problem lay with the DVD production company, which Media Blasters will no longer employ. Meredith also told Anime on DVD that the current Media Blasters DVDs have no paper inserts due to a tight production schedule. Beginning with the Shinesman DVD, all future Media Blasters DVDs will include a paper insert featuring one side that has the chapter marks and the other will has a list of other Media Blasters DVD titles. Also because Media Blasters is now using a different DVD authoring studio, future DVDs should have correct time-coding encoded onto the discs and other bugs worked out. Meredith Mulroney stated, paradoxically apologizing for the flaws in the existing DVDs and promising better results in the future, “Doing DVDs is a trial by fire situation, give us a little time and you will get results. The group of us working on Kenshin care about it a great deal and we want to give it the attention and respect that the show deserves. We will continue to strive for superior results but forgive us our short comings, we are human.”
