Keita Amemiya Directs a TV Series

The pilot episode of director Amemiya Keita’s (director of Kamen Rider Zo, Zeiram 1 & 2, and Hakaider) live-action SFX drama Tekkouki Mikazuki debuted October 22nd on Fuji TV. The series has raised some eyebrows based on its huge 1 billion yen (approximately $9.9 million) budget and backing from famous publishing companies like Media Factory. The storyline concerns a giant called Mikazuki who can create solid matter out of thoughts, and the young son of the archaeologist who excavated the creature. These two main characters battle to save the earth and humans from monsters spawned by people’s evil thoughts and dark fantasies. Almost all of the actors taking part are “tokusatsu” veterans, especially Yukijiro Hotaru (Gamera 2) and Saori Nagata (Robokon). The second episode will be broadcast on November 25th.
