Isao Takahata Coming to America

The University of Southern California’s Provost’s Distinguished Visitors Program has announced that veteran anime director Isao Takahata will participate in a two-day event of screenings and lectures at the Pacific Theater in Hollywood, California.

The Takahata directed anime films Graveyard of Fireflies, My Neighbor the Yamadas, and Pom Poko will be screened on Friday, April 23rd.

Mr. Takahata, Steve Alpert (Senior Vice President of Studio Ghibli), and Anne Allison (Chair of Duke University’s Anthropology Department) will participate in an academic symposium titled “Animation and the Contemporary Japanese Imagination” held on Saturday April 24th.
