HK Film News

According to Variety Magazine, Luc Besson & Robert Kaman have written a treatment for an action film titled “The Transporter,” about a man whose job it is to deliver packages, no questions asked. The film will tentatively star Jason Stratham (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) and will be the American directorial debut of director and martial arts coreographer Corey Yuen. Yuen’s previous work includes action choreography on Kiss of the Dragon and X-Men, and direction of numerous HK films including Jet Li’s My Father is a Hero, High Risk and New Legend of Shaolin.

Also according to Variety Magazine, the amazing success of Rush Hour 2 has prompted MGM to move forward with their plans for a Jackie Chan re-make of the 1960 Jerry Lewis comedy “The Bellboy,” to be set in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Hotel. Although Chan has been attached to the project ever since MGM began developing the property a year ago, this weekend’s keen response to Chan seemed to be all the push MGM needed to move toward making it official.
