G-Gundam the Next Series for English Release?

According to unconfirmed rumor, sources around Vancouver B.C., Canada have reported that a casting call has gone out in the area for voice actors to work on the English language version of Mobile Suit G-Gundam. Directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa, director of the Giant Robo animation, G-Gundam was successful enough to air 49 episodes between April 22, 1994 and March 31, 1995. However, although the series developed some following in Japan, American fans generally regard G-Gundam as the worst Gundam animation in the franchise’s 20 year history.

G-Gundam has been referred to as the “Dragon Ball” of Gundam due to the fact that the story, occuring in FC 95, revolves around the “13th Gundam Fight,” an annual international mecha fighting tournament held over the entire planet Earth. A nanotechnological monster of unspeakable power has been set free, and now Neo-Japanese Gundam fighter Domon Kasshu has came to Earth, not only to win the tournament but to find the Devil Gundam, built by his father and stolen by his brother, before catastrophe befalls the world.
