First 24 Hour Anime TV Network Outside Japan Announced

Sony has announced plans to begin offering its Animax Japanese satellite TV network to viewers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Indonesia this month, with possible further expansion in the future. Since its debut in 1998, Animax has become Japan’s #1 cable and satellite network. The network, sponsored by Sony, Toei Animation, Sunrise Studios, TMS Entertainment, and Nihon Ad Systems, is a linear TV network that broadcasts all animation all day- most of its programming classic anime series.

America’s only anime exclusive TV channel is AD Vision’s Anime Network, which is an on-demand viewing service, not a linear TV channel.
