Final Fantasy Returns to Nintendo

In a surprising announcement, the Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper announced this past Saturday that Nintendo has come to an agreement with Squaresoft to release Final Fantasy games on the GameCube and Gameboy Advance. A new Square subsidiary headed by Akitoshi Kawazu, who developed the Legend of Mana and Final Fantasy series, will create the Nintendo games. The Playstation 2 will remain the platform of choice for central, major Final Fantasy releases including FF XI and XII. Square and Nintendo expect to have FF titles available for Nintendo consoles by the end of the year.
