Escaflowne in Dire Straits?

According to The Escaflowne Report, ratings for the Fox broadcast of Escaflowne are poor enough to begin rumors of a possible cancelation for the series. Apparantly, ratings for the shows before and after Escaflowne are higher than those for Escaflowne, meaning that viewers are intentionally changing the channel when Escaflowne airs. If newsgroup rumors regarding poor viewership are true, hopefully the failure of Escaflowne on Fox will not spell doom for anime on American television, but will show network executives that more care should be taken to choosing anime more suitable to the intended target audience.
