Eisner Nominees Announced: Eagle Cleans Up

This year’s nominees for the Eisner Awards have been announced. The Eisners are comic’s equivalent of the Oscars, and are generally the most respected comic awards. Manga, especially Eagle did very well this year. Eagle by Kaiji Kawaguchi, and publish by Viz was nominated for Best Continuing Series, Best New Series, and Best U.S. Edition of Foreign Material. Kaiji Kawaguchi was also nominated for Best Writer/Artist. Akira book one by Katsuhiro Otomo, published by Dark Horse Comics, and Lone Wolf and Cub by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima, also published by Dark Horse Comics were also nominated for Best U.S. Edition of Foreign Material. In addition, Lone Wolf and Cub was nominated for Best Archival Collection/Project. Osamu Tezuka is nominated for one of the four slots for induction into the Comic Book Hall of Fame. The Eisner Awards are presented at Comic-Con International, San Diego.
