Discotek Acquires Ringing Bell Movie

Chirin no Suzu

Discotek has announced its acquisition of the 1978 Sanrio-produced short anime film Ringing Bell (Chirin no Suzu). The 47-minute-long film about a lamb that decides to become a predator instead of living as prey was conceived by Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase and directed by Little Nemo movie director Masami Hata. RCA/Columbia Home Video released the film on dubbed American VHS in 1990. Discotek will release the unsettlingly grim children’s film on domestic DVD next year.
