Death Note Anime Licensed

Viz Media has formally announced its acquisition of rights to offer English language translations of the current Death Note anime television series for online commercial rental and purchase. Death Note will be the first anime series offered for American commercial download while the show is still airing on Japanese television. No details regarding pricing, download format, or release date has been announced yet. No mention of a DVD release has been made.

Japan’s AV Watch reports that Japanese television network NTV has agreed to allow North American internet distribution via streaming and download to begin this spring.
