Crayon Shin-chan Coming?

Shukan Bunshun Magazine is reporting that TV Ashai is in the processes of marketing the popular anime TV series Crayon Shin-chan to American and European markets. Crayon Shin-chan may appear on American television by the end of the year. This move is already causing controversy. An editorial in the Daily Yomiuri Newspaper comments that the humorous series about a precocious kindergartener will not take in the US. It is somewhat true that when the title character comments about his mother’s chest size, or moons other, many viewers are taken aback, but the series is very funny and addictive. Only time will tell whether American audiences will accept this distinctly Japanese and extremely un-politically correct family show. In Japan, Crayon Shin-chan has been on the air for nearly ten years, and now has over 350 television episodes and at least 5 feature length theatrical films. The manga series has sold over 40 million copies.
