Cool Asian Movie News

Takashi Miike, the rising star director of Japanese new wave ultra-violent renegade cinema including Fudoh: The New Generation, Dead or Alive (no relation to the video game) and Kintaro the White Collar Worker (based on the best-selling manga serial), has announced plans to direct his 7th movie in two year. The new film will be titled “Koroshiya 1 (The Killer 1),” again an adaptation of a popular manga about a killer that enjoys feeling pain. The film is a co-production from Japan, Germany, Hong Kong and Korea and is scheduled to open in these countries next summer.

Chow Yun Fat has agreed to star in a remake of the “Charlie Chan” series for 20th Century Fox, “Bulletproof Monk” for MGM and two more films for Warner Brothers starting next year. Later on, Chow will team up with John Woo again for a drama about early Chinese immigrants in America, coincidentally, a similar story to Jackie Chan’s upcoming project, “The Highbinders.”
