Treasure has officially confirmed that their arcade shooting game Ikaruga will be ported to the GameCube in addition to the Dreamcast. Ikaruga is the unofficial sequel to the Sega Saturn shooting game Radiant Silvergun, frequently referred to as possibly the greatest video game shooter ever created. The Dreamcast version of Ikaruga is scheduled for Japanese release next month. The enhanced GameCube version will be available in January 2003.

As the next release in their line of “international versions” intended for the Japanese market, Squaresoft has announced that Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix will be released in Japan this winter. The updated version of the game will be an enhanced version of the American release, complete with English dialogue and Japanese subtitles, and a new theme song again performed by J-pop sensation Hikaru Utada.
