Cartoon Network Tenchi Title Change

After Cartoon Network completes its broadcast of the Tenchi Muyo OAV series and starts showing the first Tenchi Muyo TV series, it will change the name of the series from “Tenchi Muyo!,” Pioneer’s title of the OAVs, to “Tenchi Universe,” the release title of the television series. In Japan, the OAV series and the first TV series were both known as, simply, Tenchi Muyo. The second TV series, known in the US as Tenchi in Tokyo, was originally titled Shin (New) Tenchi Muyo.
