Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu Live Action Film Announced

The Sports Hochi newspaper reports that Mao Inoue, star of the live action Hana Yori Dango Final motion picture and this year’s Anmitsu-hime TV special, will star in a live-action film adaptation of Kotomi Aoki’s romance manga Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu. Inoue will play Mayu Taneda, a high school girl that falls in love with Takuma Kakinouchi, a young man who hides the fact that he lives with a risk of sudden death from heart failure. Shooting will begin next March for a fall 2009 theatrical release.

The Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu manga was originally serialized from 2005 to 2008 and won the 2007 (awarded in 2008) Shogakukan Manga Award for best shoujo manga. Shogakukan has published over 6 million copies of the series’ 12 collected volumes.
