Bandai Plans for Gundam Models

Bandai revealed at the 2001 Toy Fair that they will be importing numerous Gundam plastic model kits to the US between now and July, including many “old-school” original Gundam mecha. The kits will be re-packaged in American packaging and clearly labeled with a skill classification of 1-5. Skill level 1 kits will be the smallest and least expensive kits and are estimated to require under an hour to complete. Skill level 5 kits are those intended for experienced kit builders and will be the most expensive and detailed kits, requiring 2 hours or more to build. To let consumers gain experience and grow with their kits, the model “levels” will be released sequentially with level 1 kits available now, and level 5 kits not available until mid summer.
