Bandai Planning American UMD Anime Releases

According to Anime News Network, Bandai Entertainment has tentative plans to begin releasing anime on Sony Playstation Portable format UMD discs later this year. Titles likely to appeal to gamers, such as “Gundam Seed movie 1” and the Escaflowne movie are being considered for UMD release. UMD anime releases are expected to retail at $19.98 each.

Since the UMD format is still so new, it’s uncertain right now whether UMD anime releases will support multiple language tracks and subtitles.
