Azumi 2 in Production

The sequel to director Ryuhei Kitamura’s hit movie adaptation of Koyama Yuu’s samurai manga Azumi is now in production in Japan under the direction of Shusuke Kaneko (Pyrokinesis, Gamera 1-3). The film, scheduled for Japanese theatrical release in January 2005, picks up where the first film ended and will co-star Chiako Kuriyama (Battle Royale, Kill Bill vol. 1) with Aya Ueta returning to play Azumi.
