AX Magazine Canceled

Sony has announced that, after 4 years of publication and 44 issues, their anime magazine AX will cease publication after next month’s issue. Although no explanation has been given, falling sales due to the higher than average 880 yen cover price per issue may be a contributing factor. Earlier in 2001 AX Magazine began including a CD-ROM in each issue, which quickly gave way to including a 60-75 minute long DVD of anime and video game news and trailers. The cost of including a DVD in each issue increased the price of the magazine and lower total page count per issue.
