Asian Film Results at Academy Awards

Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away was awarded the Oscar for Best Animated Film at last night’s 75th Annual Academy Awards ceremony. Spirited Away is the first Japanese animated film to ever be recognized with an award from the Academy.

The Japanese animated short film Mt. Head did not receive the award for Best Animated Short Film. Zhang Yimou’s Chinese martial arts masterpiece Hero did not win the award for Best Foreign Film.
