Anime Channel Petition Online

A fan sponsored online petition for a North American all-anime television channel has appeared online and is gaining significant support.

The petition claims that AOL/Time Warner has agreed to establish an all-anime channel should the petition reach 10,000 signatures. The petition does not provide any proof to verify this claim, nor does it provide any other information regarding when such a channel would come into existance, where it would be available, how it would be available or what it would broadcast.

Saiyanz Rage has contacted the Cartoon Network in response to this unverified petition claim and received official word from the Time Warner owned Cartoon Network that, “big companies like AOL/Time Warner do not make decisions or business ventures based upon petitions. Particularly online petitions.”

In the words of Sam, webmaster of Saiyanz Rage, “This petition is BS, just for a worthless cause; there is no point to this madness. Even if we get 10,000 signatures on it, that will not convince AOL Time Warner to make an Anime Channel. This petition is a big rumor, just like most experienced anime fans predicted.”

AnimeNation did not initially report this online petition to the anime fandom community for exactly the reasons that Sam stated. But while even 10,000 signatures is very unlikely to convince any major television network to invest in more anime, this petition does prove that there is vocal support for and demand for more anime on North American television.
