A!MG Movie Finishes Theatrical Run

The Ah! My Goddess (Ah! Megami-sama) movie has concluded its scheduled one month window in Japanese movie theaters with the distinguished classification of “most popular current film”, according to Japanese entertainment magazine Pia. The film has ranked 9th in total box office receipts for this season, but placed first among animated films, out grossing the second Card Captor Sakura movie. The film took three years to complete and utilizes both CG and digital animation and traditional hand-drawn and painted cels, resulting in what is being called one of the best anime features in recent years. Because the movie was originally planned to have a 3 hour running time while the final film lasts only 1:45, critics have argued that the film feels condensed and moves a bit too quickly.
