AIC Announces Third Tenchi OAV Series

The official AIC homepage has revealed that Masaki Kajishima, co-creator of Tenchi Muyo, will create and direct a third Tenchi Muyo OAV series that will continue the story established in the first 13 OAVs. While characters like Ryoko and Ayeka may appear in the new series, the focus of the series will be on Tenchi himself, his relationship to the “three goddesses” Washu, Tsunami and Tokimi and their conflict with the mysterious new character currently known only as “Z.”

An interesting footnote to the interview is that Kajishima apparently was unaware that Tenchi Muyo had a massive fan following in America. The production of the third OAV series is not in response to American demand, but based entirely on Kajishima’s own desire to continue the Tenchi Muyo story.
