2008 Japan Media Arts Festival Award Winners Announced

The Japanese government’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs has announced the winners of the 12th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards. The official site also lists, in English, the award recognition jury’s recommended works in a variety of categories including anime and manga.

Kunio Kato’s “The House of Small Cubes” took the grand prize in the animation division, with director Masaaki Yuasa’s Kaiba winning an excellence prize.

Makoto Isshiki’s Piano no Mori (Piano Forest) won the grand prize for manga. Satoru Makimura’s shoujo fashion manga Real Clothes was among the four titles to win the excellence prize.
