US Military to Develop Powered Exoskeletons

The BBC has published an article revealing that the US military, specifically the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, began a $50 million study aiming to develop powered exoskeletons for military use. The theoretical goal of the project is not exactly to develop anime-style powered armor like mecha, but to produce a frame that a soldier would wear, which would bear additional pack and equipment weight, and increase running speed and strength. The giant robots of anime aren’t a reality yet, but this may be the first step.
