AN Entertainment at Anime Expo

Representatives of AN Entertainment will officially attend this weekend’s Anime Expo convention in Anaheim, California. AN Entertainmnet will exhibit in the dealers’ hall and have copies of the Risky Safety and first Miami Guns DVD available for purchase. AN Entertainment’s third anime series acquisition will be announced at the AN Entertainment panel on Saturday, July 3rd at 11 AM.

As the AnimeNation News Page editor will be at AX, there will be no further updates to the AnimeNation News Page until next week.

Translated Howl Trailer Available

Nausicaa.net now hosts a DivX 5 encoded, 18 Mb AVI format trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s upcoming film Howl’s Moving Castle. The article which includes the video clip also contains an English translation of the dialogue and on-screen text in the 2 minute long trailer.

New DVD Titles Scheduled

AnimEigo will release Urusei Yatsura movie 4 and the original 3 episode A.D. Police OAV series to domestic DVD on October 5th. Both DVDs will retail at $24.98 each.

AD Vision will release the first of 3 volumes of the Aquarian Age TV series on September 14th in a $29.98 disc only version and a $39.98 disc with series collector’s box.

AD Vision will release the My Dear Marie OAV series on a single DVD on September 28th at a retail price of $29.98.

Cartoon Network Announces Schedule Changes & Premiers

As of Saturday July 3rd, Inuyasha and new episodes of Wolf’s Rain will be rescheduled to midnight and 12:30am to make room for Futurama and Sealab 2021. Witch Hunter Robin and Big O will be removed from the broadcast schedule. Witch Hunter Robin will be back in November, on weeknights, for a full run.

As of Monday July 5th, Inuyasha will be put back on weeknights at 12:30am, pushing Case Closed to 1am. Lupin the 3rd will follow at 1:30am, replacing Trigun.

On Saturday October 23rd, Adult Swim will play Inuyasha: The Love that Transcends Time (movie 1) at midnight.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will premier on November 6th at 11pm, followed by Fullmetal Alchemist and the Read or Die “movie.”

America One Television will begin airing the 1993 version of Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor Leo) starting July 4th. The show will air Sundays at 11:30am EST in a 1-hour block which will repeat at midnight.

The Encore Action Channel will begin airing Vandread in July during its Animidnight program.

New Detail on Ah! My Goddess TV Series

According to Anime News Network, director Hiroaki Ghoda has confirmed in a Japanese TV interview that the upcoming Ah! my Goddess TV series will pick up where the original OAV series ended and continue to adapt Kousuke Fujishima’s original manga, hopefully for as long as the animation remains popular.

Two Versions of Steamboy for American Release?

According to Japan’s Infoseek Anime, quoting the Sankei Sports Newspaper, Steamboy will be released in American theaters by the end of this year. The film will reportedly be released in America in an edited English dubbed version and an uncut subtitled version.

Gonzo Announces Two New Productions

Fuji TV has announced that it will co-produce, with Gonzo Studios, an anime movie adaptation of Miyabe Miyuki’s novel Brave Story, “A fantasy adventure in which 10 year old Wataru enters the phantom world to ask a goddess to save his seriously injured mother.” Buena Vista International will also co-finance the production in return for international (including North American) distribution rights. The film will be released to Japanese theaters in the summer of 2006.

Kadokawa’s The Sneaker magazine has reported that Gonzo will produce an anime adaptation of the popular post-apocalyptic vampire novel/drama CD series Trinity Blood.

New Sakura Taisen OAV Series Announced

Sega and Pony Canyon have announced that a fourth Sakura Wars OVA series [fifth including the self-contained Sumire OAV], Le Nouveau Paris (The New Paris), will go on sale in Japan this fall. The first episode will be released on October 20th, followed by episode 2 in December and episode 3 in March 2005.
