{"id":8095,"date":"2004-12-14T10:45:00","date_gmt":"2004-12-14T14:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.animenation.net\/blog\/2004\/12\/14\/sitges-film-festival-awards-announced\/"},"modified":"2004-12-14T10:45:00","modified_gmt":"2004-12-14T14:45:00","slug":"sitges-film-festival-awards-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.animenation.net\/blog\/sitges-film-festival-awards-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Sitges Film Festival Awards Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several Japanese genre titles were recognized at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinemasitges.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">2004 Sitges International Film Festival<\/a>, the world&#8217;s largest fantasy film festival.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Three&#8230; Extremes<\/strong>, directed by Takeshi Miike, Fruit Chan &amp; Park Chan-Wook took the Best Make-Up award<\/li>\n<li>Takeshi Miike&#8217;s <strong>Izo<\/strong> won the award for Best Special Effects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Old Boy<\/strong>, directed by Park Chan-Wook, based on the Japanese manga by Garon Tsuchiya &amp; Nobuaki Minegishi, won the award for Best Film, and recieved the Jose Luis Guarner Critic Award<\/li>\n<li>Katsuhiro Otomo&#8217;s <strong>Steamboy<\/strong> was recognized as Best Animated Film<\/li>\n<li>Shinya Tsukamoto&#8217;s <strong>Vital<\/strong> was given the &#8220;New Visions&#8221; award<\/li>\n<li>Director Hayao Miyazaki was presented with a special jury award in recognition of his career and works.
