Iwai is best known for his multi-award-winning live-action feature films including Swallowtail Butterfly (1996), April Story (1997), and All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001). Iwai also wrote director Ryuhei Kitamura&#8217;s 2009 rotoscoped sci-fi anime short film Baton.
