Toei &#038; Telebi Douga initially produced three black &#038; white episodes of Dolphin Prince (Dolphin Ouji), broadcasting the episodes in April 1965. The episodes were then redesigned &#038; re-animated in color and broadcast in October 1966 as the first three episodes of the 13-episode &#8220;Ganbare! Marine Kid&#8221; television series. American programming distributor Seven Arts Television then contracted with Telebi Douga to expand the series for American release. An additional 65 episodes were animated with a contractual stipulation that the new series would air on American television before airing in Japan.  75 episodes of the extended 78-episode series aired on American television beginning in 1967 under the title &#8220;Marine Boy.&#8221; The series&#8217; first 36 episodes were broadcast in Japan in 1969 as &#8220;Undersea Boy Marine&#8221; (Kaitei Shonen Marine).
