Acclaimed indie anime director Makoto Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star, Promised Place) has announced his development of an original anime film titled “Kotonoha no Niwa<\/a>” (Garden of Words). Shinkai describes the film as a modern interpretation of the archaic Japanese word for “love,” which literally meant “lonely sadness,” or unrequited pining for love. The film will tentatively open in Japanese theaters some time during the first half of 2013.<\/p>\n
