The 1968-1973 manga series remains one of Japan&#8217;s most beloved manga stories. The story was adapted into two anime television series, two theatrical anime films, a spin-off OVA series, and a 1970 live action film directed by the late Yasuharu Hasebe (Stray Cat Rock, Black Tight Killers).
