Akira Toriyama and Akahori Satoru are the main two creators responsible.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the character names in Dragonball are based on the names of food.  Here are just a few examples.<\/p>\n<p>Kakaroto (Goku): carrot<br \/>\nGohan: cooked rice<br \/>\nVegeta: vegetable<br \/>\nRaditz: radish<br \/>\nLunch: self explanatory<br \/>\nGarlic Jr: self explanatory<br \/>\nBaata: butter<br \/>\nGinyuu: milk (gyunyuu)<br \/>\nFreiza: Freezer<br \/>\nCooler: self explanatory<br \/>\nSangria: an alcoholic drink<\/p>\n<p>For a longer, more detailed list of the name puns in Dragonball, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planetnamek.com\/engtojap.html\" target=\"_blank\">Planet Namek<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Comedy king Akihori Satoru also commonly uses food names for his characters.
