The Japanese government’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs has announced the winners<\/a> of the 12th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards. The official site also lists, in English, the award recognition jury’s recommended works<\/a> in a variety of categories including anime and manga.<\/p>\n

Kunio Kato’s “The House of Small Cubes” took the grand prize in the animation division, with director Masaaki Yuasa’s Kaiba winning an excellence prize.<\/p>\n

Makoto Isshiki’s Piano no Mori (Piano Forest) won the grand prize for manga. Satoru Makimura’s shoujo fashion manga Real Clothes was among the four titles to win the excellence prize.<\/p>\n
