U.S. Navy Promotional Manga Available Online

In order to to educate the Japanese public about planned docking of the USS George Washington nuclear-powered aircraft carrier at the Yokosuka Naval Base this August, the US Navy’s Japan Public Affairs Office comissioned the production and distribution of a 200 page manga titled “Manga CVN73 USS George Washington.” The manga introduces the the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier deployed to Japan through the eyes of a fictional Japanese-American sailor stationed on the boat. The US Navy has begun distributing free copies of the manga in Japan, and now hosts a free, downloadable PDF version of the manga in Japanese and English language.
