TOKYOPOP Hints Announces New Acquisitions

TOKYOPOP has issued a new press release re-stating their previously announced licenses including the manga for Love Hina and Cowboy Bebop, the GTO and Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School anime, the manga and anime license for Initial D, and the rights to press a domestic version of the Onimusha soundtrack. The press release also confirms that TOKYOPOP will be the American distributor for Alexander and mentions Angelic Layer.

Alexander is a 13 episode OAV series produced by Madhouse from character designs by American Peter Cheung (Aeon Flux). The series is a revisionist, fantastic take on the life of Alexander the Great. The series was produced several years ago and was originally announced for simultaneous Japanese and American release. After the series was completed, it was re-edited into a feature film screened at international film festivals.

Kido Tenshi Angelic Layer is the most recent anime adaptation of manga by CLAMP. The 26 episode TV series concluded on Japanese television on September 30th. The TOKYOPOP announcement do not state whether their license is for the manga, the animation or both.
