Shonen Jump Coming to America

The New York Post has reported that this November Viz Communications will begin publishing an American version of Japanese manga magazine Shonen Jump, the best selling “comic book” in the world. Shonen Jump currently serializes such popular manga series as One Piece, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Hikaru no Go, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King and Prince of Tennis, and sells an average of 3.4 million copies a week. Viz will publish the English language version of Shonen Jump monthly and hopes to debut selling 100,000 copies a month at $4.95 each, with the goal of reaching 1 million copies sold per month in 3 years. Viz has not yet confirmed the title of the American version of Shonen Jump, nor how big each monthly issue will be nor what will be included in each issue.
