Sega Reveals Plans for the Sakura Wars Franchise

The Co-Chief Operating Officer of Sega of Japan has revealed to the Japanese Dreamcast Magazine new information on the Sakura Taisen game franchise. Plans have not yet been confirmed for what Sakura Taisen game will be brought to the Playstation 2, but it will not be Sakura Taisen 4, nor will it be a direct port of one of the previous games. Kayama stated that ideas in consideration include an original side-story game, and a “director’s cut” of Sakura Taisen 1, extended with 2 episodes edited out of the original Saturn and Dreamcast versions. Kamaya also confirmed that at least two more Sakura Taisen games will be created for the Dreamcast, in response to strong fan support of the series on the DC.
