Section23 Announces New Acquisitions
Section23 Films has announced November release plans for the Blue Drop, Polyphonica, Special A, Tears to Tiara, and You’re Under Arrest Season 2 (2001) anime television series along with the live action J-horror films Ki-Gai and Nu-Meri ~Book of the New Spawn.
You’re Under Arrest Season 2 DVD collection 1 (of 2) will retail at $39.98 beginning November 3.
Special A DVD collection 1 (of 2) will retail at $39.98 beginning November 10.
Blue Drop & Polyphonica complete DVD collections will retail at $39.98 each beginning November 17.
Tears to Tiara DVD collection 1 (of 2) will retail at $39.98 beginning November 24.
Ki-Gai will retail at $19.98 beginning November 3. Nu-Meri will follow at $19.98 on November 10.
Language options on these releases have not been officially specified. Presumably they will all be subtitled only.
Last fall, I mused on the probability of Blue Drop reaching America. Sentai Filmworks’ acquisition of Special A is particularly interesting because it’s a show that was digitally distributed by Crunchyroll, and so far most of anime that have premiered on Crunchyroll then found homes with domestic DVD distributors have landed in FUNimation’s hands.

Actually Special A never officially streamed on Crunchyroll.
Wow, You’re Under Arrest is a nice surprise. Hopefully Section 23 (aka “Totally Different from ADV”) can keep things together and release compete series, but it seems they’ve finally adapted to the changes ADV forced on the industry and are releasing collections instead of individuals.
