Nintendo Tries to Ban Pokemon Domains

Nintendo of America has made an appeal to the Federal Court of Seattle to prohibit and shut down internet domain names that use some variation of the trademarked titles “Pocket Monsters” and “Pokemon.” 55 websites in the US are currently using domain names related to or featuring the word “Pokemon.” Nintendo’s stance is that the copyright infringement and illegal use of Nintendo owned character names takes unfair advantage of the worldwide popularity of Nintendo property.
