Next Gundam Series Revealed

Sunrise Animation has officially unveiled the first new Mobile Suit Gundam anime in 3 years, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed. The new TV series is scheduled to premier in October and is aimed at viewers aged 10 and up.

Based on information gathered from a poor effort at translation, the series will be a self-contained new continuity story set in Cosmic Era 70-02-11 in which the forces of the orbital Earth colony known as “Coordinator” steal four of the five prototype Gundam mobile suits from the Earth forces known as “Natural” when a civil war breaks out.

The animation production staff includes supervisor Mitsuo Fukuda (Gear Fighter Dendoh, Cyber Formula), Kunio Okawara (MS Gundam, Gaogaiger) & Kimitoshi Yamane (Cowboy Bebop, Ryvius) as mecha designers, and Hisashi Hirai (Ryvius, Gulkeever) as character designer.

GameSpot confirms that a Playstation 2 game based on Gundam Seed will be released in Japan in December.
