The official website for the upcoming Casshern Sins anime television series has opened. The site includes a small resolution Flash trailer. The series, scheduled to premier in October, is Madhouse’s revival of Tatsunoko’s classic 1973 television anime series Shinzo Ningen Casshern.

Wow! Great looking trailer, and really slick looking production. This looks promising.

Second Macademy Wasshoi Trailer Released

The official homepage for the upcoming Macademy Wasshoi! anime television series, based on the Magicians Academy novel and manga series, now hosts a new trailer. This is the first trailer to contain footage from the anime series that’s scheduled to premier in October.

Quiz Magic Academy Trailer Available

The official web page for the upcoming Quiz Magic Academy OVA, based on Konami’s popular franchise of trivia video games, now hosts a streaming Flash trailer. The OVA is scheduled to go on sale in Japan on September 12.

Not as impressive as Casshern Sins.

Ever Re-Take Trailer Online

Japanese adult video distributor Total Media Agency now hosts a streaming trailer for its live action pornographic Evangelion parody film Ever Re-Take. (The trailer contains adult language in Japanese but no explicit sex or nudity.) Specifically, the video movie is based on Studio Kimigabuchi’s grim, psychological Evangelion doujinshi (fan comic) series Re-Take. Ever Re-Take is scheduled to go on sale in Japan on September 26.

The trailer is also available for download in WMV and PSP compatible MP4 formats.

RoboDz Coming to America

The Los Angeles Times newspaper reports that Disney is revamping its Toon Disney cable channel and will re-launch it next February as Disney XD. The Disney XD network will target 9-14 year old boy viewers with programming including the Disney/Toei co-produced CG anime television series RoboDz.

With all the movies being produced in America from so many classic comic books and anime, like Witchblade coming from American media, why is it that we are not seeing more American film makers optioning anime titles? Wouldn’t a Cowboy Bebop movie be awesome with someone like Quentin Tarantino at the helm? I know he is a big anime fan.

Maria Holic TV Anime Announced

Reportedly the upcoming issue of Newtype Magazine will include a confirmation that director Akiyuki Shinbo (Sayonara Zetsubo-sensei) and animation studio Shaft (Sayonara Zetsubo-sensei) will produce an anime television series adaptation of Minari Endo’s romantic comedy manga series Maria Holic. The 2006 manga is the story of a high school girl with a phobia of males who enrolls in an all girls school, hoping to find a female romantic partner. Her ideal candidate turns out to be a cross-dressing boy.

One Outs TV Anime Announced

Reportedly the upcoming issue of Newtype Magazine will include a confirmation that Madhouse and the main animation staff behind the gambling anime TV series Akagi and Kaiji will produce a TV anime adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani’s unusual 1998 baseball manga series One Outs. The story revolves around a professional pitcher who accepts a contract stipulating that he earns 5,000,000 yen for every strike out he pitches, but loses 50,000,000 yen for every point he allows. The anime series is scheduled to premier in October.

Kiku-chan to Okami Trailer Online

The official website for the Shin-Ei Douga’s 2008 “senso dowa” (wartime fable) TV special, “Kiku-chan to Okami” now hosts a streaming trailer. The special, based on a short story by Grave of the Fireflies author Akiyuki Nosaka, is scheduled to air on August 15.

Fujiko F. Fujio’s Unique Short Stories TV Drama Announced

Japanese satellite TV network WOWOW has announced plans to broadcast a live action television series titled “Fujiko F. Fujio’s Parallel Space.” The 6 episode series will adapt Twilight Zone-esque manga stories from Doraemon co-creator Fujiko F. Fujio’s “Ishoku Tanpen-Shu” (Unique Short Stories) series originally published periodically from 1975 through 1981.

Second Salaryman Kintaro Drama Announced

This week’s issue of Shuukan Young Jump magazine includes an announcement that a new live action television series adaptation of Hiroshi Motomiya’s 1994 Salaryman Kintaro drama manga will premier in October. The story about a former biker gang leader who becomes a successful corporate office employee was adapted into a live action feature film in 1999, a four season long TV drama in 1999, and an anime television series in 2001.

Guin Saga TV Anime Announced

The “obi” advertising sleeve attached to this month’s release of the 122nd volume of Kaoru Kurimoto’s Guin Saga fantasy novel series reveals plans for a Guin Saga television anime series to air next year.

In 2005, Appleseed movie producers Micott & Basara announced plans to finance a Guin Saga motion picture. The movie has yet to materialize.

Kamen no Maid Guy OAD Announced

Japanese publisher Fujimi Shobo has announced that the upcoming ninth volume of Maruboro Akai’s popular comedy manga series Kamen no Maid Guy will be released in a limited edition version that includes an original anime DVD. The bonus DVD will feature an “hot springs” episode too risquÉ for television broadcast, and a video summary of the recently concluded Kamen no Maid Guy anime television series. The manga, with bonus DVD, will go on sale in Japan on December 22nd.
